He was signed without much fanfare last season with six games left in 2011, but he made enough of an impression on HC Chan Gailey and his offensive staff to be re-signed by the Bills for 2012. Hagan re-upped with Buffalo Monday. "Derek played well at the end of the year," said Gailey.

Hagan began last season with the Raiders and played against the Bills in Week 2, before later signing with Buffalo on Nov. 22nd following a midseason release. He appeared in four games for Buffalo making his only start in the season finale against New England where he posted a season-high seven catches for 89 yards. His only touchdown reception for the Bills came against the team that originally drafted him, Miami on Dec. 18. Set to enter his eighth NFL season, Hagan joins a crowded receiving corps as he makes it nine on the offseason roster. David Clownye is the only newcomer who was not on the roster in 2011.
