Based on the report by Denver Post staffer Mike Klis on Sunday, indicating the Dolphins were indeed negotiating with Smith following Sunday's visit, it didn't sound like they were ready to offer more than the $8 million annually that San Francisco already has on the table. Length of the deal, however, could be an issue. The Niners' offer is for three years. Perhaps the security of a longer deal would appeal to Smith. Certainly his experience as a free agent the last two offseasons has to weigh on Smith's mind. ... Stay tuned.
