The Facts:
The San Francisco 49ers have signed Johnson to a two-year deal through the 2013 season. “Josh is a promising young player that has experience in our offensive system,” said GM Trent Baalke. “He is a skilled athlete with good arm talent. Josh has shown promise in limited action, both as a back-up and starter at the NFL level. We are pleased to add him to our team.”

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Johnson, from Oakland, played for coach Jim Harbaugh at Univ of San Diego, where he set four career passing records. Johnson (6-3, 205) was originally drafted in the fifth round (160th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. Johnson has appeared in 26 games (5 starts) completing 96 of 177 attempts for 1,042 yards and 5 touchdowns. He has recorded 37 rushes for 237 yards (6.9 average). In his five career starts, Johnson completed 75 of 142 attempts for 828 yards and 5 touchdowns. It's safe to say Johnson's past associated with Harbaugh was a factor. At this point, he figures to be the No. 3 QB behind Alex Smith and Colin Kapernick -- for now.
