The San Francisco 49ers announced they have re-signed Ginn to a one-year contract. “The 49ers are my heart,” Ginn said in Thursday’s conference call with the local media. “We went so far that I just felt like coming back was the best thing for me and my family.”

In two seasons with the 49ers, Ginn has played in 27 games (three starts), notching 76 kickoff returns for 1,792 yards and one touchdown, and 62 punt returns for 787 yards and two touchdowns. Ginn’s 12.7-yard punt return average over the last two seasons ranks fourth in the NFL during that span. ... With Randy Moss and Mario Manningham joining Michael Crabtree at wideout, it would appear Ginn will be able to focus more on his special teams work this fall than he did last season.
