The Super Bowl champion New York Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium in the 2012 season-opening NFL Kickoff game on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 8:30 p.m., the NFL announced Tuesday. Reported by NFL.com

The game will be televised by NBC. The league announced last month that the season opener would be held on a Wednesday instead of the traditional Thursday night kickoff in order to avoid a conflict with President Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention the following night.
