The seven-year veteran was released by the Giants after the two sides were unable to agree to a new contract. Jacobs, 29, recently told reporters he feels he can play three more years. “I feel like I can give somebody about three more years and I’m looking forward to being done after that," he said. "But right now I’m not done. I’ve still got a lot of gas in my tank and I’m ready to go. ..." Jacobs had 571 yards on 152 attempts (3.8 yards per carry) last season. In San Francisco he'll join a depth chart topped by Frank Gore and second-year man to be Kendall Hunter. ... Stay tuned. More as further details come to light.
