Reid: Eagles Working On Long-Term Deal For LeSean McCoy
(3/29 11:39 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... Andy Reid made it clear that the Eagles have every intention of locking up McCoy to a contract extension. "We'll jump in here and start working on that," Reid said Wednesday at the NFL owners meetings. "He's a guy that we sure appreciate having on the team." Reported by the Philadelphia Daily News

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Eagles have been negotiating with McCoy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, since the end of the season. General manager Howie Roseman and Rosenhaus met poolside to further discuss a potential deal this week at the Breakers Resort, a source close to the situation said. "These things take a little bit of time. That's how it works," Reid said. "But it'll work out." McCoy, who was voted to his first Pro Bowl last season after rushing for 1,309 yards and scoring 20 total touchdowns, has one year remaining on the four-year contract he signed after he was drafted in 2009. ... Worth noting: Reid agreed with a questioner who asked whether the Eagles had overused the 23-year-old a season ago. McCoy finished with 273 carries, 66 more than he had the previous year. He did have 30 fewer receptions, though. "As we go here, we need to spot him," Reid said. ... We'll obviously be watching for more on that.
