Randy Moss Skipping Offseason Program; 49ers Not Worried
(4/18 5:33 PT)

The Facts:
Moss isn't participating in voluntary workouts this week, and that's just fine with the 49ers. G.M. Trent Baalke said he never expected Moss to be there, and he has no doubt that Moss will be ready when he needs to be ready. "Randy's not in and that was something discussed with Randy when we made the arrangement and signed him," Baalke said today. "That is not unexpected by any stretch." Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Baalke said Moss will get to San Francisco "long before" mandatory work begins, and that Moss knows how to get himself in shape and ready to compete. "He's a first, in all likelihood, a first-ballot Hall of Famer," Baalke said. "To reach that level you have to have something in you to play at that level for so long. ... He's one of the best competitors at his position and maybe all positions throughout his career. ..." And as PFT's Michael David Smith notes, what Moss has done in the past is enough to have the 49ers convinced he'll be good to go when the time comes.
