Matt Hasselbeck Ready To Compete With Locker
(4/23 4:20 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Listen to the Titans QBs and they'll tell you nothing has changed since last season in their battle for the starting spot. "At the end of the day we're both just trying to be the best we can be, so nothing is new," veteran Matt Hasselbeck said. "I have been through (competition) just about every year. Sometimes I have been the guy on top, or the guy trying to get to the top, but it is always different. But healthy competition is always good and it is really no different than last year, or the year before." Reported by the Nashville Tennessean

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Hasselbeck and Locker reported to team headquarters on Monday for the start of the team's offseason program, which will last nine weeks and end in June. Training camp is scheduled to start at the end of July. While looking ahead to 2012, HC Mike Munchak said at the end of last season the plan is for the two players to compete for the starting spot this offseason. Locker, who has been working out in Washington recently after spending time in California working with former Jets QB Ken O'Brien, said he feels he's better equipped to challenge Hasselbeck heading into his second NFL season. ... We'll see, Hasselbeck started all 16 games in 2011. He completed 61.6 percent of his passes and threw for 3,571 yards, 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Locker came off the bench in a number of games and played well. He threw for 542 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions. He completed 51.5 percent of his passes. We give Hasselbeck the edge for now, but this situation will be worth watching.
