HC Joe Philbin said he split the practice reps almost 50-50 between incumbent starter Matt Moore and veteran free agent David Garrard, reiterating that the QB job an open competition. "I don't have any pre-conceived notions," Philbin said.

Philbin also downplayed the team's upcoming decision with Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the NFL Draft. He said he hasn't had many discussions with offensive coordinator Mike Sherman about whether the Dolphins should take Tannehill with the eighth overall pick Thursday night. Sherman was Tannehill's head coach for four years in college. "Obviously Mike has been around Ryan for a long, long time, but it wasn't like we sat around and said, 'What about him at 8?'" Philbin said. "We really haven't had any discussions about where he should go, but he's a resource. ..." At the risk of calling Philbin a liar, we'll simply suggest that
somebody in Miami has discussed Tannehill with the eighth pick overall.
