The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ... Jaguars WRs coach Jerry Sullivan's network is wide and at the NFL Scouting Combine this year, he let Justin Blackmon into it. Sullivan introduced Blackmon to a friend with whom he felt the incoming rookie receiver had a lot in common: Michael Irvin. "Michael and I are friends I recruited Michael to LSU when I was coaching at LSU. Obviously he went to Miami," Sullivan said. "... Michael played the game with a lot of intensity and love of the game and great swagger. I think this kid has got some of those innate characteristics of guys that play the game really well."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Mike Mularkey alluded to that quality when he said Blackmon was a guy who didn't think he could be covered. For a receiver it's an important edge to have. ... Meanwhile, the Jaguars are planning to recently-signed Laurent Robinson at the "X" spot Blackmon at "Z" in Mike Mularkey's offense. Mike Thomas will return to the slot. ... For perspective: Julio Jones worked at the "X" for Mularkey in Atlanta last season. It generally entails more vertical routes. Roddy White was Mularkey's "Z" -- which essentially the flanker. Blackmon should be very busy in that role.
