The Facts:
Police are investigating Seau's death as a suicide, a source indicated to the North County Times. Seau, a first-round pick of the San Diego Chargers in 1990, was found in his Oceanside, Calif., home with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Seau spent 20 years in the NFL, split between the Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots He had been a local star in high school in Oceanside and later starred at the University of Southern California before the Chargers made him the fifth pick overall in the 1990 draft. Seau is survived by his former wife and three children. As NFP staffer Terry McCormick wrote: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
