The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ... According to ESPN.com's Tony Grossi, McCoy’s fate as a former starter was sealed when his father sounded off about the club’s handling of his concussion in the Pittsburgh game on Dec. 8. Grossi was told at the time that Brad McCoy’s comments meant the end of McCoy in Cleveland, but he didn’t believe it then. Grossi added "The comments did not drive the pursuit of a new quarterback, but I believe they contributed to McCoy’s demise."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio suggests, it’s not a surprise. Football coaches at every level generally prefer that parents butt out. Florio went on to suggest the fairly legendary temper of Browns president Mike Holmgren and the high degree of sensitivity that the Browns exhibited regarding the question of whether McCoy should have re-entered the game, Brad McCoy’s words undoubtedly triggered great irritation at team headquarters. While nobody is suggesting that's the sole reason the team drafted Brandon Weeden last week, it sounds like we're getting an idea just how much irritation now.
