Ryan Grant Will Meet With Lions On Monday
(5/3 7:38 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... After going through the draft without selecting a back, it appeared logical that the Packers would contact Grant's agent, Alan Herman, to talk to him about re-signing him. But the only team that has been ringing up Herman's phone are the Packers' NFC North rival, Detroit Lions. "We've had discussions," Herman said. "They're very interested." They're interested enough that Grant will fly to Detroit Sunday and meet with coaches and personnel people on Monday. The discussions have been productive enough that a deal could be done soon after the visit.  Reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Grant also visited the New England Patriots recently and they remain in the mix, also. ... The Packers? They haven't called. According to Herman, the only conclusion Grant can make based on the Packers' silence is that they aren't interested in re-signing him. Given the lack of experience depth in the backfield, Green Bay might have been expected to at least see what it would cost to keep Grant, who is an unrestricted free agent able to sign with the team of his choice. ... Stay tuned.
