Dispelling any speculation that a Griffin/Rex Grossman/Kirk Cousins "Hunger Games" survival battle was in the making, HC Mike Shanahan said Sunday that RG3 will work with the first team in organized team activities. "He's the starter, period," Shanahan said of Griffin.

The coach went on to explain, "Obviously any time you pick a player with the second pick in the draft and you give up two No. 1s and a No. 2 to move up four spots, you've got a game plan in mind. We're going to put him with the first team, when we come back (for the next round of workouts)." Shanahan was referring to the pre-draft trade the Redskins pulled off with the St. Louis Rams to nab the dynamic Baylor star. "I thought it's very important to start with Robert in the first unit," he said. As NFL.com's Dan Hanzus suggests, an argument always can be made to ease a rookie quarterback into the offense, but Shanahan obviously believes Griffin has the talent and makeup to step in as a Week 1 starter. Cam Newton and Andy Dalton served as last year's evidence that a quick transition is possible. Griffin's got next. That doesn't make him starting Fantasy material just yet -- any more than Newton was this time last year. That said, things can change quickly once the snaps become meaningful in September.
