The Facts:
Less than two weeks after OC Tony Sparano maintained that Tebow has made "eye-opening" progress over the past couple of seasons, QBs coach Matt Cavanaugh made it clear that he believes the young signal caller has plenty of upside. "I think he can be very good," Cavanaugh said. "I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him over an extended period of time. ... Not just watching him play on film. I think he's certainly got the arm strength. He has good mechanics. They're getting better every day."

After working closely with him, Cavanaugh has stressed the importance of consistent footwork to improve Tebow's delivery. Although he's started working with Tebow on adjustments when the pocket collapses, the primary lessons center on improving mechanics inside a clean pocket. "I think with Tim, he's more focused right now in the offseason on just working on the fundamentals of trying to be rhythmic in the pocket," Cavanaugh said. Although Rex Ryan and Sparano have said that Tebow could be involved in as many as 20 plays a game, the specifics of his role remain a mystery. For what it's worth, Cavanaugh doesn't subscribe to the notion that Mark Sanchez's growth may be stunted if he's taken out of the game in favor of a "Tebow Package." Cavanaugh explained: "If you're a really good quarterback, you understand that you want to do what's best for the team. So I don't see it being an issue. ..." We still do. Stay tuned.
