The Facts:
The media was allowed to watch the Jets' first OTA practice on Thursday. The overreaction to what they saw came soon thereafter. Among the initial blurbs on Twitter was the following by long-time New York Daily News columnist Gary Myers: "Tebow picked off by Bart Scott and Yeremiah Bell about 2 minutes apart in OTAs. Sanchez lengthening lead in Jets QB derby."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
ESPN's Herm Edwards grew rather animated when discussing the initial coverage of this story on SportsCenter Thursday morning. As many of the tweets were being shared with the audience, Edwards repeatedly reminded viewers it's just practice -- and it's just May. Edwards is right. But that doesn't mean coverage of the perceived battle between Tebow and Mark Sanchez is going away. If anything it's only going to intensify. As NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal suggested, "if you think the overreaction is bad now, just wait until training camp or the regular season. ..." Whether you view it as good or bad, it is copious. And for the record, Newark Star-Ledger staffer Jenny Vrentas summed up the initial round of competition nicely: "By an unofficial count, Sanchez took 17 snaps in 11-on-11s, 7-for-14 with a TD. Tebow took 9 snaps, 6-for-10." But like Rosenthal, we were most appreciative of the sarcasm coming from the twitterverse, including ESPN.com's Rich Cimini chiming in with: "Tebow looks great covering punts. A natural born personal protector. ..." Do we need to say it? More to come.
