The Facts:
Lloyd might have left some money on the table to sign with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent. But his transition to the new team is feeling like more of the same, given the 30-year-old veteran is being reinserted into the offense that made him a first-time Pro Bowler in Denver two seasons ago. "They way the plays are called is very good for the way that I run routes and catch the ball," Lloyd said.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
But of course, Lloyd is one of many veterans vying for Tom Brady's attention -- and also for playing time. The Patriots re-signed their top three receivers last season -- Wes Welker, Deion Branch and Chad Ochocinco, who wasn't a free agent but restructured his contract -- and plucked several others off the free-agent market. In addition to Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney, Anthony Gonzalez, Donte Stallworth and seventh-round pick join a lot of holdover veterans including Matthew Slater and Julian Edelman. But Lloyd, who has excelled in two previous stints with current Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, is a precision route runner with exceptional short-area quickness to separate from tight coverage and work the middle of the field. He's not a true deep threat, but his knowledge of the offense he first learned in a 77-catch, 1,448-yard, 11-touchdown season in 2010 under McDaniels should serve him well.
