Following up on the
ongoing story. ... Nicks yesterday underwent successful surgery on his right foot, as a screw was inserted to hasten the healing process in the fifth metatarsal bone he fractured while running a route on Thursday during an OTA drill. The surgery was performed in Charlotte, N.C, by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson.

The Giants have set a 12-week timetable for Nicks’ return. Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted “One person familiar with the Nicks fractured foot said it was more like a ‘4 to 6 week’ injury.’’ Nicks’ agent, Peter Schaffer, told the Post, “we will know more next week,’’ regarding the earliest Nicks can be expected to return. The Giants open up their regular season Sept. 5 against the Cowboys and Nicks, unless he experiences a setback, could be available for that game. He likely will sit out the entire training camp, set for July 26 to August 16. ... Stay tuned. We'll continue to follow up as further details come to light.
