Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal suggests, some might point to this release and say the Patriots did Gonzalez a favor. He was going to get caught in a numbers game in a ridiculously deep Patriots receiver group and was unlikely to make the team out of training camp. He joined Donte' Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney on the list of free-agent additions. Clearly he wasn't showing much in OTAs. Nor did he show much in recent seasons. In fact, he only has five catches in the past three seasons after a strong start to his career in 2007 and 2008.
