Not So Fast; Giants Not As Optimistic As Hakeem Nicks
(5/30 12:0 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Nicks thinks he'll be back from foot surgery at the start of training camp, but the Giants aren't that optimistic. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio that the team views Nicks' timetable of being ready to go when camp opens on July 26 as overly optimistic. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As PFT's Michael David Smith points out, from the team's perspective, it's great that Nicks wants to get back out there as soon as he can. But they won't let him go full-speed until he's ready, and they think the most realistic time frame is three months. That would still have Nicks ready for the regular season, and the Giants' passing game should be in good shape as long as Nicks is at full speed by the start of September. Meanwhile, ESPN.com reports that Domenik Hixon is working opposite Victor Cruz with the first team in Nicks' absence.
