ongoing story. ... Nicks spoke with the media Thursday for the first time since
breaking his foot last week, and it's no surprise Nicks is confident he'll be back for the team's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, Sept. 5. "I don't have any doubt," Nicks said.

There have been competing reports regarding when Nicks will be back. ESPN's Adam Schefter suggested
four to six weeks. The Giants said 12 weeks and that Nicks was "
overly optimistic" when he said earlier this week he would be ready for the start of training camp. Nicks will listen to the Giants. "We just don't want any setbacks," Nicks said. "We're going to take it 12 weeks, that's what their giving us. But my goal is to always come back early." Nicks currently is in Charlotte wearing a walking boot and will return to the team next week. ... Stay tuned. We'll be following his progress closely.
