GM Optimistic Steelers Will Sign Mike Wallace To A Long-Term Contract
(6/8 1:31 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ...GM Kevin Colbert said he is optimistic the team will sign Wallace to a long-term contract. Reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Appearing on the "Movin' the Chains" show on SiriusXM Radio, Colbert said the organization is in negotiations with Wallace and his agent, Bus Cook. "Mike is someone who has stated he wants to be here, and we certainly want him," Colbert said. Wallace has until June 15 to sign his $2.74 million tender before the Steelers could reduce their offer to $577,000. In the end, Wallace has no real leverage beyond sitting out and giving up all pay. And even that is limited. If he sits out beyond Week 10, he would lose his shot at unrestricted free agency next offseason. We suspect this one will get sorted well in advance of the regular season opener.
