The Facts:
Jones-Drew hasn't participated in the Jaguars' offseason program and missed the team’s mandatory minicamp last week. He remains optimistic, however, team officials will give him the richer, longer-tem contract he desires before the 2012 regular season. "This is the side of the NFL that's just as real as Sunday," Jones-Drew said in an interview with NFL Network. "This is what the NFL is really about. What I can say is that I hope that we can get something done."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Jones-Drew has two years remaining on his current contract, which pays him $4.45 million in '12 and another $4.95 million in '13. Given he's the NFL's reigning rushing yardage champion at age 27, he is looking for both a payoff on what he's already accomplished and some security beyond his prime. Considering the Jaguars' reluctance to lucratively lock up their best offensive player and face of the franchise, TSN's Vinnie Iyer belives Jones-Drew is headed toward a lengthy training camp holdout. He told the NFL Network that he has no desire to engage in a public battle with the team. "To talk about it in the media is not going to help,” he said. "Hopefully we can have something where we can be able to get out there and play in the future."
