Report: Maurice Jones Drew Might Be Willing To Miss Games
(6/23 2:13 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... According to people with knowledge of his thinking, Jones-Drew could stay away into the regular season. General manager Gene Smith has said he doesn't plan to renegotiate Jones-Drew's deal. Reported by the Florida Times-Union

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Uh-oh. ... This situation is suddenly become a bit worrisome. Jones-Drew, the 2011 NFL rushing leader, did not attend any of the Jaguars offseason programs this year to express his desire for a new contract. He has two years left on his deal, which pays him $4.45 million this year and $4.95 million in 2013. He received a $9 million signing bonus back in 2009. He has had little to say about his desire for a new deal, but on Wednesday he told the NFL Network that the business side of the NFL is "just as real" as Sunday. "What I can say is that I hope that we can get something done, but to talk about it in the media is not going to help," he said. "Hopefully we can have something where we can be able to get out there and play in the future. ..." We'll obviously be watching for more.
