Matt Forte Leaves Himself Some Wiggle Room On Holdout
(6/23 2:15 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Forte said Friday he might hold out of training camp but is optimistic about his ongoing talks with the team. Still, the uncertain nature of the negotiations had Forte seemingly going back and forth on his options. "Not playing at all? That actually is an option, but there's a slight chance of that happening. There's another option of not being in camp and that stuff. There's two sides to it," said Forte, who later said he would not miss the entire 2012 season. Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Bears applied the franchise tag on Forte and have until July 16 to sign him to a long-term deal. If Forte and the Bears don't reach a long-term agreement by then, Forte must play under the franchise tag, which will pay approximately $7.7 million. Previous reports made it sound like Forte might have ruled out missing regular-season games. That's clearly not the case. ... So, the Forte watch will continue. Stay tuned.
