Carter, the forgotten man stayed that way during offseason training activities and mini-camp. He smacked a bag on the first day of OTAs back in April, a standard drill, the kind these guys do hundreds of times. So the rest of his offseason has been about rehab. He estimated his thumb was at 80 to 85 percent. Meanwhile, new HC Chuck Pagano says Donald Brown can be an every-down back as Carter falls down further below the radar. As Star staffer Phillip B. Wilson notes, Brown has the experience to be a reliable running back. He was the best the Colts had in a forgettable 2011. But Wilson argues that NFL teams need more than one running back. And tough, physical guys are hard to find. That's why Wilson believes Carter will eventually emerge as a legitimate contributor before all is said and done. Unfortunately, from a Fantasy perspective, he can't be drafted as such.
