Extension For Matt Schaub Not In The Works... Yet
(7/2 1:56 PT)

The Facts:
Houston officials haven't commenced substantive discussions yet about an extension for Schaub, who is entering the final season of his contract at a base salary of $7 million-plus, but likely will do so before the end of the summer.  Reported by the Sports Xchange

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Texans believe Schaub's recovery from a foot injury that ended his 2011 season is going well, according to Pasquarelli. Schaub underwent surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury, suffered in a win over Tampa Bay on Nov. 13. Schaub signed a six-year, $48 million contract with the Texans in 2007 following a trade from the Atlanta Falcons. He passed for 2,479 yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions in 10 games this past season prior to the injury. But as Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio suggested Sunday, given Schaub’s injury history and the kick that often comes from being in a contract year, the smart move for the Texans could be to wait. It might cost them, but only if they have a really good year.
