The Facts:
Vikings HC Leslie Frazier is one of several current and former NFL coaches who are visiting U.S. troops stationed in the Persian Gulf this week with the USO. He has encountered several Vikings fans among the troops, and all of them want to know about the progress of Peterson, who last season tore his ACL and MCL in a December meeting with the Redskins. Frazier says he expects Peterson to be eager to compete during their July 27 training camp. "He was looking good when we left," said the coach.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
But Frazier continued to leave the team ample wiggle room when it comes to just how much Peterson will be allowed to do early. "He's so valuable to our organization that we have to be smart," the coach explained. "We'll tread lightly as far as Week 1 and how much he'll contribute on the field. Even when we get to training camp, he's going to be chomping at the bit but we'll have to be smart. ..." And why wouldn't they? The Vikings have $100 million invested in Peterson. They don't appear to be a Super Bowl contender at this point. So why push -- other than to satisfy Peterson's competitive desires. We still expect Toby Gerhart to be very busy early on this season.
