Report: Cards Thrilled With Ryan Williams' Progress
(7/6 2:46 PT)

The Facts:
We hear Williams is right on schedule, if not a little bit ahead, in his recovery from the torn right patella tendon that wiped out his rookie campaign. “They were thrilled that he was able to participate in 11-on-11 drills at the mandatory mini, and the medical staff just raves about his work ethic,” said one source on the scene of Williams, the team’s surprising second-round draft pick last season. Reported by Pro Football Weekly

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As good as he’s looking, PFW's Dan Arkush reports the team is still being very cautious with Williams and is planning on limiting his snaps in training camp. Once the regular season gets underway, though, it could be a different story. “It all depends on Beanie (No. 1 RB Beanie Wells),” the source told Arkush. “[HC Ken Whisenhunt] has always been a proponent of the two-back system, so in a perfect world, Williams will be a factor.” Ideally, Williams, who made a major impression before getting hurt last summer with his shiftiness and ability to change direction on a dime, will be the same kind of complement as Tim Hightower was to Wells before signing with the Redskins.
