ongoing story. ... Peterson did what any of us would do in making his first comments after being arrested at a nightclub. He quoted Winston Churchill. “A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.”

Two minutes later, Peterson followed with this: "Thank you for waiting for the facts. Truth will surface. ..." And it will. As NFL.com put it: "While the truth gets its pants on, it's worth noting the incident was reportedly captured on one or more surveillance cameras inside the club. Up with the zipper, out with the facts. ..." We'll go ahead and stress again this isn't an issue we expect to be discussing in August or September. It seems like an isolated incident that should be put in context with Peterson's otherwise sterling character. We'll continue to follow up, but we're still more worried about
his rehab from December's reconstructive knee surgery than this instance.
