Jaguars Confident Blaine Gabbert Will Make Strides
(7/13 1:25 PT)

The Facts:
The Jaguars are counting on Gabbert, like many of the league’s elite passers, to make dramatic progress in his second season. Given the way he quickly grasped Mularkey’s scheme in the spring, the Jaguars are cautiously optimistic that Gabbert will show more signs of flourishing.  Reported by The Sporting News

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
We'll see. As TSN correspondent Gene Frenette reminded readers, Gabbert started 14 games as a rookie last year and finished with the NFL’s worst passer rating of 65.4. Some of that can be attributed to a shabby receiving corps and being thrown into a starting role after an NFL lockout without any offseason preparation as the No. 1 quarterback. This year, the neither will be an excuse. It will all be on Gabbert. That said, Fantasy owners aren't as interested in Gabbert as they will be in his receiving corps, specifically Justin Blackmon, Laurent Robinson, Mike Thomas and Marcedes Lewis. If Gabbert doesn't deliver, they won't either.
