The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ...Much of the talk around the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason has been the 2012 status of Mendenhall, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the team's regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns. Mendenhall took to Twitter on Friday morning to let his followers know that how his knee was healing. "My knee has healed wonderfully," he tweeted. "Thanks for all the well wishes!"

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
At the end of Pittsburgh's mini-camp in June, GM Kevin Colbert made a fairly educated guess that Mendenhall would open training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, a reasonable assessment of the situation considering that the normal recovery time from a torn ACL is generally nine to 12 months. Opening camp on PUP would also be a requirement for Mendenhall to remain a candidate for the PUP list at the start of the regular season. Since Mendenhall may not be 100 percent until November or so, there's little chance that Colbert will jeopardize roster flexibility at the start of the regular season in order to rush Mendenhall's recovery process. ... In the meantime, Isaac Redman heads into training camp as the Steeler running back of interest to Fantasy owners.
