Could David Garrard Be The Best QB For Dolphins?
(7/13 8:12 PT)

The Facts:
Garrard has positioned himself as the front-runner to become the season-opening starter if he continues to serve as a steadying hand for this West Coast offense during its infant stages.  Reported by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
So wrote Sun-Sentinel staffer Omar Kelly, who believes Garrard is ideally-suited to running the offense being installed by new HC Joe Philbin and OC Mike Sherman. Kelly isn't alone in that opinion. "David does fit well into this offense," said WRr Brian Hartline, who openly admits incumbent starter Matt Moore is "my guy." Still, Hartline can't ignore what the team saw from Garrard during the offseason program. "[Garrard] gets the ball out of his hands really quickly," Hartline said. "He's very decisive. He knows what he wants from his receivers and communicates it very well. He commands the huddle. ..." That makes sense. Garrard is a former Pro Bowler who has started 76 games, and has a career quarterback rating of 85.8, which is 22nd all time. His career rating trumps what upper echelon quarterbacks like Eli Manning (82.1), Matt Hasselbeck (82.2) and Jay Cutler (84.5) have produced. Garrard was also the architect of 11 fourth-quarter comebacks and 18 game-winning drives during his Jacksonville days. Considering the Dolphins lost four games in that fashion last season that trait should come in handy if Garrard can manage to beat out Moore and convince Miami's coaches to put first-round pick Ryan Tannehill on ice for at least the first half of the season. ... Stay tuned.
