The Facts:
Friday, Victor Cruz said he saw Nicks Wednesday night at the ESPYs and Nicks told him he expects to be ready for the team's opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 5 -- and not when players report for training camp on July 27. "He looks good. He's walking again on his own so that's definitely a good sign," Cruz said. "He told me he'll be ready and he told me he'll take training camp to continue rehabbing and continue to get his foot back right, but I definitely expect him to be ready by game one."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
When Nicks
went down with a broken foot during the Giants' second OTA in late May, he vowed he would be back in time for the start of training camp. That seemed optimistic. Nicks' original diagnosis was 12 weeks, which meant he was due to return August 17. That is still a possibility, but
his prediction of the start of training camp isn't (and
most likely never was). The Giants certainly aren't looking to rush him back. ... Stay tuned. Nicks' status is obviously something we will be covering closely next month.
