Does Beanie Wells Need A Push? Williams Ready To Give One
(7/18 12:9 PT)

The Facts:
HC Ken Whisenhunt raved last year about Wells' toughness and maturity. Wells gained 1,047 yards and averaged 4.3 yards a carry. Those aren't outrageous statistics for a No. 1 back who played in 14 games. But considering Wells played through a knee problem, 2011 was a step forward for him. Still, there is a feeling around Cardinals headquarters that Wells needs to be pushed.  Reported by the Arizona Republic

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Republic staffer Kent Somers notes, that's not unusual for a player, or any other human for that matter. But it wasn't a coincidence that on the final day of off-season workouts, Whisenhunt commented that Wells should be ready for camp because other backs had looked good. Whisenhunt didn't name anyone, but it was clear the coach was talking about Ryan Williams. No other player has spent more time at the team's facility in 2012 than Williams, and by the end of off-season workouts, he was participating in 11-on-11 drills. Fair or not, the perception lingers around the Cardinals facility that Williams will have to be restrained from practicing too much and that Wells will have to be prodded a bit. Somers added that coaches likely will be cautious with both Williams and Wells in the preseason -- something that will make it harder to get a feel for the regular-season rotation. That said, we'll be watching for more.
