Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Battle met with team personnel and toured the Chargers facility as one of four candidates to join the backfield back in March after Mike Tolbert, who spelled Ryan Mathews the past two seasons, moved on to Carolina. Battle, 28, spent the first five years of his career with the Chiefs. The bulk of his playing time came last season when he had 149 carries for 597 yards and two touchdowns. He also had nine catches for 68 yards. If signed, Battle would be reunited with new Chargers fullback Le'Ron McClain, who spent last year in Kansas City. Mathews, Ronnie Brown and Curtis Brinkley were the top three backs on roster prior to Battle's arrival. ... We'll obviously be watching for more on his possible role so stay tuned.
