The Facts:
One practice after signing with the Chargers, Boller told head coach Norv Turner that he is retiring.

A league source indicated that Boller was concerned that he wouldn't get a true chance to compete for the No. 2 quarterback job with Charlie Whitehurst, and chose not to continue for that reason. Boller finishes his career with 8,931 passing yards and a 48:54 TD:INT ratio with the Raiders, Rams, and Ravens if this decision sticks for the 31-year old quarterback. Meanwhile, the Chargers are now short a quarterback in camp and will quickly look to fill that role.
