The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ... Cassel is beginning his fourth season as the Chiefs' starting QB, and he knows what you think about him. "Hey, it is what it is, man," he said. "You play this position; you're going to take your lumps, and it's not something that bugs me. It's not something that I let get to me. You've got to be strong when you play this position."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to Star beat writer Kent Babb, Cassel has been impressive so far in training camp, and it's clear that he is "miles ahead" of Brady Quinn and Ricky Stanzi. Indeed, Babb believes the Chiefs have done a nice job surrounding Cassel with talented players, and that pieces are there for a march toward the playoffs. But a Fantasy-worthy season? Despite last year's 10-TD, 9-INT effort, SI.com's Jim Trotter expects Cassel to regain his form of 2010, when he threw for 27 scores and only seven picks. Not only does he have better talent around him, which means the Chiefs are going to rely on the run and use play-action to hurt teams down the field, but the playbook is more QB-friendly than past seasons. ... We'll see. From our perspective, Cassel is going to be a waiver-wire player this September. That doesn't mean he won't deliver in a pinch, but to believe he'll go on draft day seems like a reach in all but the deepest leagues.
