Darren McFadden Reiterates He Won't Play Not To Get Hurt
(8/1 1:13 PT)

The Facts:
One day into camp, and the Raiders' most dynamic offensive player is still healthy. A good-natured sort, McFadden politely fields all queries about his propensity for injury but has no solutions. "If someone has an answer for it, I would love for them to tell me," McFadden said Monday. "I just go out there and take it one day at a time. I can't control injuries. If I get hurt, I'm going to get hurt going hard. ... I'm not going to go out there and play not to get hurt." Reported by the Oakland Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Seven games into the 2011 season, McFadden appeared headed for 1,500-plus rushing yards. That's when he sustained a Lisfranc sprain of the right arch. It never responded to treatment, and McFadden's season was over after seven games and 614 yards rushing. The Raiders staggered to the finish, going 4-5 in his absence. "I think we all understand that he's an explosive playmaker for us and we need him to be healthy for an entire season," HC Dennis Allen said. But as Tribune staffer Jerry McDonald notes, that would be a first. McFadden has never played more than 13 games in any of his four seasons. The injuries haven't been connected, and some are simply bad luck (for example, McFadden missed a stretch of training camp last season with a broken orbital bone when his helmet was pushed into his eye in a blocking drill).
