Justin Blackmon Will Be Well Behind The Curve... Once He Signs
(8/2 5:54 PT)

The Facts:
Money isn't an issue in the talks between Blackmon, the NFL's lone unsigned first-round draft pick, and the Jaguars. As the No. 5 overall pick, Blackmon's contract is expected to be about $19.5 million for four years. "We're communicating,' GM Gene Smith said. "There are no new updates.' Reported by the Florida Times-Union

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Of Blackmon missing time, HC Mike Mularkey said: "He's going to be behind, and it will probably be pretty noticeable when you watch him on the field when he's behind. ...' If and when Blackmon shows up, he is not allowed by the new collective bargaining agreement to start practicing immediately. The first day, he's not allowed to participate. The second and third days, he can't wear pads although he can run routes. He can wear pads on the fourth day. Never a good thing when rookie receivers miss time in training camp; they tend to need all the work they can get in order to emerge as immediate contributors. Blackmon will be a Week 1 starter for the Jags, but given the current circumstances, we hope he's not one of yours.
