Hakeem Nicks Takes Next Step In Recovery
(8/8 12:44 PT)

The Facts:
Hakeem Nicks was scheduled to take another big step towards playing in the regular-season opener when he tested out his injured foot on Tuesday afternoon by running some pass routes on a side field during practice. Reported by the New York Daily News

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Nicks, who fractured his right foot in May, has been doing some straight-ahead running and a little running in circles, but he hasn’t tested his foot by cutting in and out. He was scheduled to do that with a trainer throwing him some passes. Assuming that went well (we've not heard any results yet), he will remain on track towards being ready to play in Week 1. “Definitely still on target,” Nicks said. “Everything’s been going good. I’ve been running every day, no setbacks, feeling good, getting better.” Nicks said he feels “no pain” in his foot, but he’s still on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, which means he can’t even be a limited participant in any team or positional drills. He said he has no idea when the Giants would consider taking him off. There's no point rushing him back, so don't expect to see a lot of Nicks this preseason.
