Ryan Mathews broke his clavicle after one carry in the team's first preseason game. He will miss four to six weeks.

Mathews will undergo surgery later today. If he meets the short end of the projection, he could be available for Week 1 of the season. The injury comes on the heels of head coach Norv Turner saying that Mathews was ready for a large workload this season despite numerous nagging injuries over his short NFL career. For those who haven't had their Fantasy draft yet, look for Mathews to slide from the middle of the first round to become a decent value pick if he can return healthy and stay that way the rest of the season. Clearly, that is not a given.
