Scott Linehan said on Tuesday that Faulk still is on the fence whether to retire or play another season. He has encouraged Faulk to return.

Faulk, who seemed to accept the back-up role behind Steven Jackson last season, still has three years remaining on a four-year contract extension he signed last February. If he retired, was released, or was traded, the Rams would absorb a cap hit of about $4.1 million in 2006.
