The Facts:
Tannehill will be the Miami Dolphins starting quarterback, HC Joe Philbin announced at a press conference Monday. "After a thorough evaluation of the quarterback position, we have come to the decision that Ryan Tannehill is our starting quarterback," Philbin said. It was a close competition, but in the end we feel that this is the best decision for our football team at the present time."

The rookie will start the Dolphins first game Week 1 against the Houston Texans on Sept. 9. ... The reviews on Tannehill’s play so far have mixed, to say the least. Last Friday against the Panthers, he took three sacks, had four passes tipped, completed just 10-of-23 passes for 100 yards and punted on five of six drives. On the other, he led a beautiful 15-play touchdown drive, made some impressive reads and throws and didn’t throw an interception. Observers have called him the most talented QB on the roster, but Matt Moore is clearly the more polished and experienced. Still, the team's desire to make their QB of the future their QB of the present makes sense.
