The Facts:
Between now and March 2, the Steelers almost certainly will release Maddox, who said he expects to be released and hopes to sign with another team. "If it's time to move on, it's time to move on," Maddox said. "I'm excited about the future."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Charlie Batch moved into the No. 2 job ahead of Maddox last season and he likely will re-sign with the team as an unrestricted free agent. A young quarterback -- perhaps Rod Rutherford, a member of the Steelers' practice squad who finished last season on injured reserve -- will take over the No. 3 job.
