The Facts:
St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson rushed for 58 yards on nine carries through the early second quarter of Sunday's game versus the Washington Redskins. Jackson spiked the ball in frustration after being stopped short of the goal line on a third-down try. He received an unsportsmanlike conduct and didn't play another down. Bench-gate frenzy swept the fantasy football universe for hours until Rams head coach Jeff Fisher told the media that a groin injury kept Jackson out of action for the remainder of the game. He denied that Jackson was benched as a result of the penalty. Rookie Daryl Richardson carried the ball 15 times for 83 yards and caught two passes for 19 yards filling in for Jackson.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Whether you believe Jeff Fisher's post-game spin or not, one thing is clear—Daryl Richardson has clearly outpaced fellow rookie Isaiah Pead as SJax's backup. Jackson said the groin injury isn't serious, but soft tissue injuries can linger. Savvy fantasy owners might want to have Richardson on standby in case SJax misses any time.
