The Facts:
During his Monday press conference, Kansas City Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel said running back Jamaal Charles re-injured his left knee during Sunday's blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills. Crennel said “He got banged up a little bit and then (the Chiefs) decided not to put him back in the game. He wanted to go back, but the other guys were doing OK, so we left the other guys in." The other guys Crennel is referring to—Peyton Hillis and Shaun Draughn—were in the lineup for more plays than Charles.
Charles was spotted riding a stationary bike on sidelines during the third quarter. He finished the day with six carries for three yards and caught three balls for 19 yards. Crennel said Charles was sore, but he expected the third-year running back would be available for Week 3's road game against the 0-2 New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
While the news that Charles re-injured his knee won't make his his fantasy owners feel good, at least there is some explanation for why he was such a non-factor in Week 2 against the Bills. We will continue to monitor Charles' condition during the week and provide updates on his participation in practice. The Saints have been very fantasy friendly to opposing running backs through two games, so let's hope that a trip to the Superdome is just what the fantasy doctors order for Charles.
