The Facts:
The NFL suspended Denver Broncos linebacker Joe Mays for one game and imposed a $50,000 fine for his illegal hit on Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub. The hit knocked Schaub's helmet off and also took off a piece of his left ear. Mays drew a roughing-the-passer penalty for the third-quarter hit on Schaub, who left the field with blood flowing from his ear and missed one play before returning. Multiple sources report that Mays will appeal the fine and suspension.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Schaub lost a piece of his ear and Mike Tyson was nowhere to be found. While Mays immediately and repeatedly denied that he didn't intend to hurt Schaub, he'll have plead his case in front of the league. In accordance with NFL rules, Mays' appeal will be heard and decided before Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. If he loses the appeal, Mays wouldn't be able to practice with the Broncos this week or be at the team's headquarters. He would be reinstated next Monday. We expect Mays will spend the coming Sunday on the sofa—watching football rather than playing football.
