The Facts:
Rex Ryan and the New York Jets got an up close and personal look at 49ers backup quarterback and Wildcat threat Colin Kaepernick in the first quarter of Sunday's game. During the San Francisco's second possession of the game, Kaepernick kept the ball on an option play out of a Pistol formation on his first snap and ran for a 17-yard gain. He beat a Jets defense that has seen its fair share of quarterback runs in practice. A few plays later, Kaepernick returned to take a snap under center and attempted a deep ball to Randy Moss near the Jets end zone. Three Jets defenders circled around Moss as safety LaRon Landry knocked the ball away. Then, a little more than a minute into the second quarter, Kaepernick took a snap out of the shotgun on third down and ran for a six-yard score. Lastly, instead of scoring a touchdwown in the final minutes of the 49ers 34-0 win over the Jets, Kaepernick slid at the three-yard line to help run out the clock.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
We admit it was fun watching Jim Harbaugh "out Tebow" Rex Ryan and the New York Jets. After San Francisco's lackluster performance in a loss to the Vikings in Week 3, the read option appeared to spark the Niners offense and kept the Jets on their toes. The read option worked due to the element of surprise, and because the Jets are a poor run defense. We don't foresee a quarterback controversy in San Francisco or Kaepernick challenging Smith's job in the near future. That said, it may be in the 49ers best interests to get Kaepernick more involved in the offense because it brings a different dimension to the game. Fantasy-wise, it's too soon to even consider dedicating a roster spot to Kaepernick in all but the very deepest of leagues. Alex Smith would have to get hurt in order for Harbaugh to make the change. Depending on how he's used in the offense, Kaepernick could eat into Smith's numbers, so pay attention.
